OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAPerhaps a Migratory Bard — Welcome to “Wandering, but Not Lost”.  This is intended to be an online chapbook of poetry and some essays and photography that have been published otherwise on several other blogs. This is as much for my benefit as for the visitors — so I can better organize and find my scribblings. Most of this has to do with the desert Southwest as a place or region. Why “Southwest”? I moved to New Mexico a decade ago and that move opened up a new perspective and a renewed creativity. Most of my poetry and writing here is centered on the region of deserts and arroyos and canyons and mountains in New Mexico and surrounding states.  Some of my writing has nothing or little to do with the Southwest — but I’ll probably throw that in as well.

Am I a pilgrim? Maybe so. In my mid-70s I do seem to be on a long journey circling the sun. Some of the passages and landmarks I have wandered among will be evident in the writings. I embrace the saying “all who wander are not lost” inspired by Tolkien’s Fellowship of the Ring… although the experience of being lost has its own charm at times. I have been there too.
